Combating Consistent Persecution of Indigenous Peoples

Indigenous people around the world are persecuted by people from other societies who colonize and dominate. The United Nations is an organization created to be and developing to be the largest advocate for people and their human rights, so we think it should here work to improve the rights of these people and their voice in their societies. Delegates would be encouraged to discuss potential involvement and assistance from groups such as Amnesty International who have direct ties to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Improving Access to Education for Refugees

It is estimated by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees that out of the 3.5 million refugees who are in the age range to attend primary school, over half of them receive no education. When compared to the fact that 91% of children worldwide in this same age range do attend primary schooling, it illustrates a troubling situation in which these children are being denied their human right of education as of Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Primary education is the foundation for a child’s livelihood, and it is imperative that the delegates within this committee are able to engineer solutions that ensure that every child has access to a quality education. In this committee, delegates are tasked with passing valid and realistic resolutions to combat climate change to prevent further displacements and aid those who have been displaced. The resolutions submitted will be reviewed by members of the UNHCR for consideration by policymakers.
