SICMUN - JR. MUNshop

JR. MUNshop is a student-led program based in Austin, Texas, that helps middle schoolers become confident speakers, critical thinkers, and strong future leaders. Through hands-on Model United Nations (MUN) training, we introduce students in grades 6 through 8 to the world of diplomacy, public speaking, and global problem-solving all before they even get to high school.

We started JR. MUNshop because we saw a gap. Many students enter high school with very little experience in public speaking, debate, or programs like MUN, yet these activities are some of the most competitive and valuable opportunities available. Without early guidance, students often feel overwhelmed or unsure of where to begin. Our goal is to change that.

Each month, we host immersive workshops that break down complex ideas into simple, engaging activities. Students learn how to give strong speeches, write resolutions, participate in mock debates, and understand the basics of global issues and international cooperation. Sessions are led by experienced high school MUN delegates and supervised by an adult to ensure a safe, structured environment.

Workshops are kept intentionally small so every student gets personal attention, plenty of speaking time, and space to grow. Whether a student wants to win awards at MUN conferences in the future or just feel more confident speaking in front of others, JR. MUNshop offers a strong foundation and a welcoming space to learn.
